I wish I was making this up.....

The title of tonight's blog is exactly true: I wish I was making this up. I overheard a conversation today while I was eating lunch and must say I was completely disgusted with what I heard. I overheard an woman...probably in her late 50's talking to an older gentleman...he was around 70, and she was talking about her SISTER that had just been diagnosed with a disease.... This is what she said.... "Well Cathy called me last night and told me that she was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. Her life's over. I mean, she's so young to be diagnosed with something like that. She's only 45. Gosh, just think how bad her lifes gonna be. She's gonna die because of this. I wish I would've had something to say to her, but I couldn't think of anything....there's no hope for her." I couldn't believe my ears. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I swear what I just typed really happened. I was so furious listening to this woman rant with negativity. For Godsakes she was talking about her SISTER! I wouldn't wanna have any hope if that woman was related to me.....good grief! Being that it's important to me to help change the way others think and feel, I had to say something. I turned around and apologized to this woman for eavesdropping and also for interrupting. I took off my "TEAM FOX" wrist band that has never left my arm one time, not even when I sleep. I handed it to the woman, but I held it up to her so that she could see my hand tremor. I placed the band in her hands and told her to please give this to her sister and that there's always hope. The woman was shocked. She couldn't muster up even a word. I could see that she was about to cry so I put my arm on her shoulder and asked her one question, "Ma'am, this is how you should treat your sister from now on, can you do that?" As a tear dropped from her cheek, she simply nodded. Besides, without hope, what else would we live for?
